When solar monitoring goes offline, the system usually keeps producing, but you lose visibility. Faults can go unnoticed for months, and some battery settings and remote support depend on the system being online. A common cause is the data logger: the small Wi-Fi, LAN or 4G gateway that sends data from your inverter or battery to its monitoring platform. Gateways can fail with heat and age, or stop connecting after a modem change.

The Replacement Monitoring Gateway is from $290 supplied and set up. This is an indicative starting price; the final price depends on your inverter or battery model, the gateway type (Wi-Fi, LAN or 4G), any data plan requirements and whether cabling or a signal extender is needed.

What's included

  • Diagnosis of why monitoring has stopped, including a check of your network and signal
  • Identification of a compatible replacement gateway for your inverter or battery
  • Supply and connection of the gateway
  • Configuration on your Wi-Fi, a network cable or a mobile data connection
  • Reconnection of your system to its monitoring account and app
  • Confirmation that live data is reporting before we finish

Why Blue Energy Solar

Not every offline system needs new hardware. Sometimes the fix is entering a new Wi-Fi password or moving the router. We check the simple causes first and only replace the gateway when it is faulty or unsuitable for the site. Where the signal at the inverter is weak, a LAN or 4G option is often more reliable than repeated Wi-Fi fixes.

Recommended for

Owners whose inverter or battery monitoring has stopped working because of a failed data logger, a new modem or unreliable Wi-Fi.

Gateways are model-specific. A logger that fits one inverter brand will not work with another, and some older inverters rely on monitoring platforms that are no longer supported. We supply gateways for the brands we install, Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fox ESS and Sungrow, and check compatibility for other inverters case by case.

  • 4G gateways need mobile coverage at the inverter and may involve an ongoing data plan.
  • Metal meter boxes, brick walls and distance from the router often weaken Wi-Fi.
  • If the inverter itself is faulty or no longer supported, a new gateway will not restore monitoring.
Directions

1. Request a quote with your inverter or battery model and when monitoring stopped.
2. We check the likely cause and confirm a compatible gateway.
3. We send a written quote for the replacement and any network work.
4. We install and configure the gateway and reconnect your monitoring account.
5. We confirm live data in the app and show you where to check it.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after confirming compatibility.
A compatible gateway must be available for your inverter or battery model.
Mobile data plans for 4G gateways, where required, are not included unless listed in the quote.
Faults in the inverter, battery or your home network equipment are quoted separately.
Reconnection needs access to your existing monitoring account, or your permission to set up a new one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Signs include a gateway with no lights or an error light, a monitoring app that has shown no data since a particular date, and an inverter that is producing normally on its own display but not reporting online. The cause may also be a changed Wi-Fi name or password. We check those possibilities before recommending a replacement.

Usually yes. On most systems the gateway only sends data and does not control power production. The risk is that a real fault, such as an inverter error or a string not producing, goes unnoticed. Some battery systems use their online connection for updates or remote settings, so restoring the gateway matters more for those.

Wi-Fi is simplest when the signal at the inverter is strong. A LAN cable is the most reliable where a cable can be run from the router. 4G suits properties without home internet, farms and sites where Wi-Fi does not reach, but it needs mobile coverage and possibly a data plan. We recommend the option that suits your inverter and site.

Often not. A new modem usually has a different Wi-Fi name and password, and the existing gateway needs to be reconfigured to join it. If reconfiguration fails, or the gateway is old or faulty, a replacement may be needed. We try reconfiguration first and quote a replacement only if the gateway will not reconnect.
