Power-factor correction designed from power quality logging and installed by our licensed electricians to reduce kVA-based demand charges at commercial and industrial sites.
From $9,900 (Per site, installed), including GST. Indicative starting price: the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment.
Many commercial and industrial electricity tariffs charge for peak demand in kVA, not just kW. Motors, compressors, pumps, refrigeration and some HVAC plant draw reactive power, which pushes kVA up without doing useful work. When your power factor is low, you can end up paying for network capacity you don't really use. Power-factor correction supplies that reactive power on site, so the meter records a lower kVA peak.
We start with power quality logging, then design the right solution: a staged capacitor bank, a detuned bank where harmonics are present, or active correction for fast-changing loads. Projects start from $9,900 per site, installed. This is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after logging and a site assessment.
Commercial energy costs are often driven by demand charges, so we design around your measured data rather than guesswork. Because we also install commercial solar and batteries, we account for how those systems change the power factor at your meter. We are a New Energy Tech Approved Seller with $20 million public liability cover, and installation is carried out by our licensed electricians with minimal disruption to your operations.
Commercial and industrial sites billed on kVA demand, with motors, compressors, refrigeration or HVAC plant and a low measured power factor.
Solar can lower your power factor. Rooftop solar reduces the real power (kW) you import, but not the reactive power, so the measured power factor at the meter can drop after solar is installed. If your tariff is kVA-based, correction and solar are best designed together.
Savings depend on your network tariff, how often peaks occur and your current power factor; logging tells us whether correction is worthwhile before you commit. Harmonics from variable speed drives and LED lighting can shorten capacitor life, which is why detuned or active designs are sometimes needed. Capacitor banks should be inspected periodically, as components age with heat and use. We only include incentives in a payback estimate once eligibility is confirmed for your site.
1. Request an assessment and share 12 months of electricity bills.
2. We install a power quality logger at your main switchboard for one to two weeks.
3. We analyse the data and present a design, an estimated demand reduction and a fixed written quote.
4. Once you accept, we order equipment and schedule installation around your operating hours.
5. Our licensed electricians install and commission the equipment, then verify performance with follow-up logging.
6. You receive a handover report and maintenance recommendations.
The listed price is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after logging and a site assessment.
Estimated savings are based on your logged data and current tariff and are not a promise of future results.
A planned shutdown of the main switchboard may be needed for connection, scheduled with you in advance.
Limited switchboard space, fault levels or high harmonic levels may require additional work, quoted separately.
Any network or building owner approvals needed for the work must be in place before installation.
