The sheltered gap under solar panels is an ideal nesting spot for pigeons and other birds. Nests, droppings and debris build up quickly, bringing noise, smell, mess and blocked gutters and, over time, damage to cabling and connectors. Birds that peck or scratch at wiring can create real electrical risks.
We first clean out nests, droppings and debris from under the array, then fit a durable, UV-stabilised mesh around the edge using clips that attach without drilling into your panels or roof. The result is discreet and keeps birds out while still letting air circulate. Installation starts from $690 for up to 20 panels. Native birds are protected in NSW. If we find an active nest belonging to a protected native species, we pause and advise you on the rules before anything is removed. In many cases the birds involved are introduced species such as feral pigeons.
Mesh is best installed as soon as birds start nesting, before droppings and damage build up. The price depends on the number of panels, roof height and pitch, the array's shape and how much nesting material needs removing. Two-storey or steep roofs, and arrays split across several roof faces, take longer. Panel cleaning can be arranged at the same visit.
