Running mains power to a long driveway, a gravel car park or the far corner of a yard usually means trenching, cabling and a new circuit. Stand-alone solar lights avoid all of that. Each pole carries its own solar panel, battery, controller and LED light, charging during the day and switching on automatically at dusk.

Solar lighting starts from $1,290 per light pole, installed. This is an indicative starting price; the final price depends on light output, pole height, the number of lights, the lighting schedule, footing type and ground conditions.

What's included

  • A site review of the areas to be lit, pole positions, shading and ground conditions
  • A lighting layout to suit driveways, car parks, yards or paths
  • Stand-alone solar LED light units with an integrated panel, battery and controller
  • Poles and footings suited to the site and local wind conditions
  • Installation of each pole and light
  • Programming of dusk-to-dawn, dimming or motion-sensing modes
  • A handover with care and maintenance guidance

Why Blue Energy Solar

Cheap solar lights often look bright for a few weeks, then fade on winter nights. We size panels and batteries for the longest nights and cloudy spells, and choose light levels that suit the task rather than the brightest figure on a box. We are also honest about where mains-powered lighting would serve you better, for example in heavily shaded areas. Our team covers Sydney and around 200 km beyond.

Recommended for

Rural properties, businesses, schools and strata sites that need lighting for driveways, car parks, yards or paths away from mains power.

Solar lights work best when the panel has clear sky access. Trees and buildings can leave a light short of charge in winter, when the sun is low, so pole position matters as much as the light itself.

  • Dimming after midnight, or motion sensing, stretches battery capacity through long winter nights.
  • Public or shared areas such as car parks may need to meet lighting standards; tell us how the area is used.
  • Footings near underground services need a service location check before digging.
  • The battery is typically the first component to need replacement as the light ages.
Directions

1. Request a quote with the areas you want lit and a rough site plan or photos.
2. We review the site, including shading, ground conditions and pole positions.
3. We send a written layout and quote with light types, pole heights and lighting modes.
4. Once accepted, we schedule installation of the footings, poles and lights.
5. We program the lighting modes, test operation and hand over care guidance.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and quote.
Underground services are located before footings are dug; rock or unstable ground may change the footing design and price.
Lighting for public areas or car parks may need to meet specific standards or council requirements, confirmed in the quote.
Light performance depends on clear solar access; trees or structures added later can reduce winter operation.
Strata or leased sites need owners corporation or landlord approval before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

A properly sized light can run from dusk to dawn, but the design depends on light output, battery size and the winter sun at your site. Many installations use full brightness in the evening and dim later in the night, or brighten on motion. We set the mode to match how the area is actually used, so the battery lasts through long winter nights.

A well-designed light stores enough energy for more than one night, and the controller can reduce output when the battery is low so the light keeps working. Extended cloudy weather may still reduce brightness or run time. We design battery capacity with winter conditions in mind and explain what to expect during long runs of poor weather.

Yes, and solar lighting suits car parks where trenching would be costly or disruptive. Areas used by the public or staff may need to meet lighting level requirements, so we ask how the space is used and design the layout and light output accordingly. Council or landlord approvals may also apply to new poles.

Very little day to day. Panels should stay clear of heavy dust, bird droppings and overhanging branches, and light heads should be checked occasionally for damage. The battery gradually loses capacity over the years and will eventually need replacement. Panels on tall poles should only be cleaned or serviced with proper access equipment, never by climbing the pole.
